Latino Leadership Initiative
"It's great to get involved, roll up your sleeves and get out there in the community. It's important to give of your time, as well as your money." - Socrates A. Villarreal
There is a strong need for help and assistance in our local Hispanic community. However, Hispanic participation to give back and help others is lacking. The Latino Leadership Initiative aims to shift the tide and encourage Latino leaders to Give, Advocate and Volunteer to create long-lasting positive change in North Texas.
The Latino Leadership Initiative works to engage Latinos across our region to come together to help build strong, successful families. Members have shared their time at several community events, including assisting Spanish-speaking families in the enrollment process for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), as only 16 percent of children from low-income families eligible for CHIP are actually enrolled.
