Become an Advocate

We need your voice. Tell your friends about United Way and speak out about important public policy changes.

Breaking the cycles of dropouts, poverty and poor health in North Texas depends on engaging the entire community. Join tens of thousands of United Way advocates by telling your friends and colleagues about the importance of getting involved.

You can also use your voice to improve critical public policies. In 2011, United Way advocates successfully lobbied the Texas Legislature to strengthen the training requirements for childcare providers, which will enable them to better prepare children for kindergarten.

For the 2013 Texas Legislature, United Way priorities include supporting vocational training, obesity prevention and early education practices that have proven to make a long-term impact on people’s lives. You can play an important role in shaping public policy by signing up to receive timely updates about the key issues you support. Also consider familiarizing yourself with who represents you and how the legislative process works.

Be sure to follow us on both Facebook and Twitter to receive action alerts when these bills and other important proposed policies need your help moving.
