Nationally, United Way is a leader in response and recovery efforts by working hard to identify the most serious needs of communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina, and is committed to helping not only with front-line disaster relief but also with long-term recovery, those needs that are often not addressed until weeks, months or years following a disaster. Locally, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is giving a total of $100,000 emergency funding to American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to help provide relief to the hundreds of individuals, families, and children who evacuated their homes and are now in the Dallas area without food, medical supplies or clothing. |
