Spotlight on Kent Eastman
Kent Eastman, Area President Dallas-Fort Worth for Capital One Bank, has been a long-time supporter of United Way. In fact, in addition to being a Tocqueville member, Kent has just been recognized as one of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas' Loyal Contributors, having given to United Way for more than 25 years. With this type of support, experience and leadership, Kent was a natural choice to serve as the 2008 United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Campaign Chair.
Kent has 27 years of experience in the banking industry, having joined Capital One, then Hibernia, in 1994. He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee. In his current role at Capital One Bank, Kent represents the bank to local civic, economic development and nonprofit organizations while overseeing Capital One's commercial banking groups in Dallas, Fort Worth, Tyler and Shreveport.
An active community leader, Kent serves on the Dallas Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the board of the YWCA, the Associate Board of the SMU-Cox School of Business and other local organizations. As the 2008 Campaign Chair for United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Kent has been recruiting his campaign cabinet leadership and preparing to visit local CEOs to ask them to support United Way. He has a big job ahead of him this year, with Debbie Taylor, 2007 Campaign Chair, having just announced a campaign result of $58,156,304 plus a special gift from The John and Susan Wilder Foundation and a one-time corporate match from Energy Future Holdings (formerly TXU).
Kent is also proud of the local Capital One Bank associates' commitment to United Way. The Capital One Bank employee workplace campaign had a 14% increase, and with the corporate gifts, raised more than $260,000 for United Way. They have given two grants to United Way's Destination: Graduation program, totaling more than $250,000.
"I am proud to work for a company that shares my personal passion to make a difference in our community," Kent said. "In addition to the huge business investment we have made in the Dallas area, Capital One Bank has also made a significant investment in the needs and welfare of this community. The United Way provides us with the opportunity to impact our community in a real and lasting way."
The Capital One Bank's executive's passion for United Way is clear. "I'm honored to serve in this role for United Way," said Kent. "I know the kind of generosity that this community shows regularly, even in challenging economic times, and I'm eager to be a part of raising resources that will change lives for the better in our community."
Kent lives in Southlake, Texas, and he and his wife Sandra have four children.
