Spotlight on T. Ray Baker

T. Ray Baker has served in volunteer leadership roles with several area nonprofit organizations over the years. Recently, he led campaign efforts as the 2006 Collin County United Way campaign chair - stepping up from the co-chair role in 2005 - and prior to that, served as campaign co-chair for Tarrant County United Way. He has been actively involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Arlington, as well.

While leading the 2006 campaign efforts in Collin County, Ray and his team visited with leadership at more than 36 companies to talk about the importance of strong campaign efforts in the workplace. As a result, there was significant growth in the number of first-time workplace campaigns, an increased use of best practices in existing campaigns, and individual gifts of $1K or more per year grew impressively. Helping to set the pace, donations from the board of directors increased by a remarkable 122 percent!

About his service as Collin County Campaign Chair, Ray states, "It's been an honor and a pleasure to lead this year's campaign. United Way's mission to change and improve the lives of Collin County residents in need plays an important role in our community's efforts to thrive and flourish."

Ray is Vice President - Wealth Management for the Citigroup/Smith Barney Office in Collin County. He has more than 14 years' experience in the investment advisory business, with time spent at both the Crescent Court and Plano locations. He is a Certified Financial Planner with extensive experience assisting individuals and private business owners with wealth preservation and transfer strategies. Ray received a B.S. in Education from Tarleton State University in 1987.

Ray and his wife, Johna, enjoy spending leisure time with their two children.
