Spotlight on Sarah Beckel

Sarah Beckel's family taught her early in life the importance of sharing your time and talents with those who may need a little help. As a senior financial analyst for the Citi Cards division of Citigroup, she's been able to do just that by helping lead their 2005 and 2006 United Way workplace campaigns, and by serving in several volunteer leadership roles with Greater Lewisville United Way over the years. They include:

  • Board of Directors - member
  • Young Leadership Society Steering Committee - member
  • Stewardship Committee - Chair, Vice Chair and member
  • Allocations Committee - Vice Chair and member
  • Outcomes Committee - member

During the 2006 Citi Cards campaign, Sarah served as the campaign chairperson, leading a team of fellow employees that raised more than $390,000 - a 12.7 percent increase from the previous year.

Sarah has also put her financial knowledge to extended use for Greater Lewisville United Way during the past three years, playing an active role in establishing and executing the processes used to evaluate and fund its partner agencies. Her involvement in these stewardship roles has helped to ensure that donor dollars go to organizations making a measurable impact on the needs in our community.

Sarah says, "When I first started working at Citigroup, I discovered a long partnership existed with United Way, and I wanted to get involved. I loved the idea of getting out into our community and seeing the agencies at work, and I knew that I needed to be a part of it. I feel like I am making a very positive impact."
