Spotlight on Ruth Skinner
Ruth Skinner began volunteering with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) ten years ago, upon the recommendation of colleagues from the Junior League of Dallas. Since that time, she has provided service and leadership in a number of United Way Community Investment team roles, helping to ensure that donor dollars are invested with local service agencies that have the greatest impact on pressing community needs.
Currently, Skinner is the vice chair of the Community Investment committee, as well as an executive committee member on the UWMD board of directors.
When asked how she feels about her involvement with UWMD over the years, Skinner states, "I think the level and length of my involvement is evidence of my satisfaction. I believe the Community Investment process we use to allocate funds is very valid and serves donors and the community well. I recently participated in a focus group where I was among a diverse group of donors, volunteers, and community and business leaders, and I was very pleased to hear many of them express their support for the process. They ranked it among the top strengths of the organization, which makes me very happy to be involved."
Skinner is actively engaged in a number of other community leadership endeavors, including:
Center for Housing Resources - Board member
Junior League of Dallas - Endowment Committee member
Episcopal School of Dallas Parent Association - Board member
