Spotlight on Peggy Tobolowsky

Peggy Tobolowsky is a professor and associate chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas, and has served as a United Way volunteer for more than a decade.

What began as an initial interest in learning more about the health and human service needs in our community and United Way's impact on those needs has led to Peggy's extensive contributions in a number of vital volunteer roles over the years, including:

  • Board of Directors _ member
  • Executive Committee _ member
  • Foundation Board of Directors _ member
  • Community Investment Committee _ Chair and Vice Chair
  • Central Allocations Committee _ Chair, Co-Chair and Vice Chair
  • Panel _ Chair, Vice Chair and member
  • Finance Committee _ member

Peggy states she is particularly pleased to have been a United Way volunteer during a time when the funding allocations process evolved to include expanded needs assessment and funding prioritization practices, as well as more developed outcomes measurement procedures. "All of these improvements ultimately culminated in a community impact model of allocations that allows us to use donors' investments most efficiently and effectively," Tobolowsky said.

"I have found my experience with United Way to be extremely rewarding. It has been such a privilege to serve with so many dedicated United Way volunteers, tireless and talented United Way professionals, and committed service providers. Together, we have worked hard to maximize donor investments with United Way and to help meet health and human service needs in our community."

In addition to her work with United Way, Tobolowsky currently serves in volunteer leadership roles with the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas.
