Kay Tait Knows the Formula for Success
Kay Tait, Manager for Third Party Services, Supply Management for Celanese Corporation, oversees contractual relationships with companies that operate on Celanese manufacturing sites around the world. In 2005, after many years of supporting United Way through personal donations, she took on a leadership position with the United Way campaign at Celanese because she has always "felt a responsibility to be involved in the community," Kay states. "I chose to be active with United Way because it is a great way to make sure your donation is being distributed to people in the community who really need it."
In 2006, Kay became the Celanese United Way Campaign Chair. Working with a talented and dedicated steering committee and a supportive corporate leadership team, she developed an outstanding campaign. Kay inspired her team with a contagious enthusiasm. She led by example, working tirelessly to create unique twists on their existing campaign. She acted as an advocate with key leadership, campaigning for heightened levels of support. She set clear goals and motivated every employee at Celanese to help achieve them. Her leadership helped Celanese realize a 62 percent increase in the 2006 campaign. Even more impressive was how her committee was able to engage all employees at Celanese. In 2006, employee participation jumped from 51 percent to 91 percent!
Kay enjoys traveling, cooking, snow and water skiing. She is an alumnus of the University of Arkansas, College of Chemical Engineering, and an inaugural member of their Academy of Chemical Engineers. In 2005, she received their distinguished Alumni Award. She has been married for 18 years to husband, Robert, and has two children. Kay is a Boy Scout Den Leader and a Girl Scout Daisy Troop Leader, teaching her children from a young age the importance of volunteerism. She also volunteers in the Angel Town Nursery at Grace Community Church.
