Spotlight on Forrest Cain

Forrest Cain, Training Manager at the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and 2006 Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC) for United Way, led a great first-time campaign effort, and is looking forward to an even better sophomore year in 2007!

Raising more than $19,000, NTTA was recognized with the "2006 Outstanding New Business Campaign" award at the Collin County United Way Campaign Finale.

Cain jumped into his role as ECC feet first, and employed many campaign best practices, such as organizing United Way partner agency on-site tours for employees, and inviting agency speakers to the workplace to talk to employees directly.

Cain states, "As a first-time ECC, I was very unsure what to expect. After meeting with representatives from a couple of Collin County agencies, including CASA and Allen Community Outreach, my opinion was quickly formed: I plan to be a United Way volunteer for LIFE. I believe in the power of people, and through the assembling of teams with a direct mission, and a little motivation, we can really change lives. For me, that's what volunteering is all about -- changing lives, one at a time."

Cain has been with NTTA for six years, and was actively involved in the community, even before becoming the United Way ECC for NTTA. He has volunteered with the AIDS Resource Center and Legacy Counseling organizations, among others.
