Spotlight on Bill White
Being Of Counsel at Locke Liddell and Sapp, the Mayor of Highland Park, and the Tocqueville Society Ambassador for United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Bill White is accustomed to balancing a variety of roles. Wherever you find Bill, he will most likely have his sleeves rolled up and be elbow-deep in endeavors where he believes he can help and make a difference.
White has been the Employee Campaign Manager for the Locke Liddell campaign since the mid-80s _ even before it was Locke Liddell and Sapp _ and each year they continue to experience outstanding campaign growth. They lead fund-raising efforts among area law firms, with total contributions of $226,932 last year. Of that total, more than $90,000 is from Leadership gifts of $1,000 or more, and $103,500 from 11 individuals who are members of the Tocqueville Society, giving annual gifts of $10,000 or more. In the past two years, the dollars raised through Tocqueville Society members at Locke Liddell has more than doubled, thanks to efforts to educate employees about the services that their gifts to United Way help provide in our community.
In addition to being an internal champion for United Way at Locke Liddell, White has also played a leadership role in the overall Tocqueville Community campaign since 2004. He has been the driving force behind the popular Second Tuesday luncheons, a members-only forum featuring Tocqueville members who share personal and professional stories and perspectives. These events provide an intimate setting for members to learn "behind the scenes" information, as they mix and mingle with others who share similar interests.
In addition, White served last year _ and will continue this year _ as the Tocqueville Community Chairman. Many Tocqueville members mark the beginning of the annual campaign by the first letters, calls and E-mails they receive from Bill and the other Tocqueville committee members.
United Way is fortunate to have Bill White and Don Glendenning, Dallas Area Managing Partner, among our many good friends at Locke Liddell and Sapp.
