Spotlight on Ryan Suchala

After moving to Dallas in 2000, Ryan Suchala began to research a variety of organizations in order to determine where he might best use his talents to positively impact the community.

Upon the recommendation of colleagues at Bank of Texas, where he is currently a Vice President of Middle Market Banking, he decided to volunteer as a Grant Volunteer with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD). For the past six years, Suchala has dedicated the majority of his volunteer time to the organization, serving in a number of key roles:

  • Grant Volunteer - Member, Vice Chair and Chair (beginning 2001)
  • Central Allocations Committee Officer - Second Vice Chair (2007-2008)
  • Admissions Committee - Member (2005)

"I have been extremely pleased with my involvement with UWMD, because I have seen the direct impact on our community.

My time as an Admissions Committee Member allowed me to see how committed UWMD is to screening potential partner agencies, and the grant process ensures that contributions are sensibly invested - rewarding those programs that efficiently demonstrate results.

Every time I go on a site visit to a partner agency program I am reminded of the generosity and giving spirit of the Dallas community, and it pleases me to know that their trust is well-placed."

Suchala is active in many other area organizations, including:

  • Christ the King Catholic Church - Member
  • Ronald McDonald House Dallas Young Friends - Board Member and Membership Co-Chair
  • University of Oklahoma Alumni Club - Board Member
  • Young Risk Management Association - Board Member
  • Metropolitan Athletic Club - Board Member
  • Recent Graduate Alumni Board - University of Oklahoma, Michael F. Price College of Business MBA Program - Member

Married to wife Samantha; together they have two sons.
