Richard first became involved with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas 13 years ago when the organization contracted with UTD to conduct a comprehensive community needs assessment. In 1997, Richard was invited to serve as a volunteer on the Venture Grant Committee and the Outcome Evaluation Task Force.
Richard has appreciated the opportunity to serve with United Way and the Dallas community, both as a technical expert and as an engaged community member.
"I have particularly enjoyed working with United Way's staff, volunteers, and agency partners - they are a diverse and dedicated group," he said. "Despite sometimes differing views on current issues, people at United Way are able to come together around our shared values and work to make a difference in our community."
Richard has also volunteered with Mental Health America of Greater Dallas, Family Gateway, United Cerebral Palsy, The Arc, Central Dallas Ministries, and the Center for Nonprofit Management.
