United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) publishes a full Community Needs Assessment every three years as a way of identifying the most pressing health and human service needs in the community. The next volunteer involved update will be in 2008. The information is used by United Way to direct funding towards the highest priority needs. Other organizations - both public and private - can utilize the data to help inform their policy and program design decisions. It also serves as a report to the community in general on the state of health and human service needs and provides benchmarks from which to gauge progress. As such, this report can facilitate more community engagement around identifying and meeting the community's needs.
