United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) would like to recognize Gala Trigg, Income Director of Special Initiatives/Special Projects, as its Employee of the Month.
Gala, who joined United Way in October 2008, was nominated by UWMD staff for her “dedication and excellent leadership.”
“Gala is hardworking and 100 percent dedicated to the mission of the United Way and the families in the community that we support,” submitted one colleague. “She is always willing to go the extra mile.”
Gala LIVES UNITED in our community by volunteering during the annual Feast of Sharing and at the Resource Center of Dallas. She also is eager to begin work as a panel volunteer for Integrated Minority AIDS Network, Inc.
“Although my financial contribution is relatively small, I also give by providing helpful information and supporting multiple programs that benefit others,” she says.
Gala has helped lead United Way’s financial stability program, Earn It! Keep It! Save It!, which put more than $8 million back in the pockets of hardworking Dallas families. Through that program, she has witnessed the impact United Way can have on fellow North Texans.
One man, she recalls, arrived for tax assistance at a 2009 Earn It! Keep It! Save It! meeting. Though his income was low, he simply wanted to see if there was anything he could receive.
“He received a refund of $7 and he was so happy and thankful,” Gala says. “I took a picture with him as he continued to thank us for not only preparing the tax return for free, but for also taking the time to explain the entire process. It was a rewarding and humbling experience.”
Outside of work, Gala enjoys reading, travel and time with family.
“I love to just spend a quiet evening at my grandmother’s, watching a movie or game show with family,” she says.
During your next visit to UWMD, please congratulate Gala Trigg and thank her for a job well done.
