Nearly 90 percent of uninsured children have at least one working parent, and nearly half of these children are eligible for Medicaid or Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) but are not enrolled.
CHIP is a state program that provides health care coverage for eligible children in low income families, while Medicaid serves primarily low-income families, pregnant women, elderly, and people with disabilities.
