A Long History of Standing Together, Standing Tall
For more than twenty years, members of the Tocqueville Society – Ruth Sharp Altshuler Circle of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas have worked to advance the common good for the people of North Texas.
In 2009, Tocqueville Society members contributed $8.4 million to help individuals and families form the building blocks of a good life: a quality Education that leads to a stable job, enough Income to support a family through retirement, and good Health.
In recent years, Tocqueville Society gifts helped launch two United Way education initiatives:
- Destination: Graduation — focused on improving high school graduation rates in Dallas and Plano
- TLC for Youth — provides free educational and recreational summer camp programs for at-risk children and youth from low-income families
