A Long History of Standing Together, Standing Tall
For the past twenty years, members of the Tocqueville Society--Ruth Sharp Altshuler Circle of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas have worked to advance the common good for the people of North Texas.
Tocqueville Society members have collectively contributed $37 million in just the last five years. These gifts helped individuals and families form the building blocks of a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
Tocqueville Society member's gifts also helped launch two education initiatives:
- Destination: Graduation-focused on improving high school graduation rates in Dallas and Plano independent school districts.
- TLC for Youth-provides free educational and recreational summer camp programs for at-risk children and youth from low-income families
